Patsy recently joined with Hunter Carman, a special acoustic blues artist, to create her newest program, "Blues and News." This program combines great blues guitar, vocals, and harmonica with storytelling to create a must see event of songs and stories. As Hunter says, "Blues music is especially focused on stories of loss, love, leaving, and learning." Patsy shares the 'News' from Hancock County as it relates to These topics. "Sometimes we just have to tell somebody the story before we can write the song," says Patsy. Here you will get the best of both music, humor, small town folks, trying to make it through life's difficult moments with dignity and humor. Before the first verse is completed you will be into these stories that are often all too familiar.
Speeches and Programs
I have two keynote speeches that are presented to varied audiences. These are outlined below. Change according to Mama and Aunt Ruby - This keynote focuses on adaptations people have to make when they either choose or are forced to make change in their life. While telling the story of how Mama and Aunt Ruby and other neighbors coped differently with the change in their lives, Patsy teaches her audiences about good and bad adjustments to change, the stages of change, and how to make the process of change easier. From this keynote her audiences gain: ·new knowledge to help with family and business relationships
feel better about themselves
reduce their fears of change
see themselves as problem solvers
better ability to cope with loss
"Patsy gave us the motivational speech we wanted to launch our healthier lifestyles program. She made us laugh long and hard while also providing content to help the audience understand lifestyle changes." We'd hire her back in a heartbeat! "
"Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful stories of Mama and Aunt Ruby, and for pointing out in the best and simplest way how change affects us and how we handle it."
Shirlye Pirkle, Celebrate Spring Retreat
Amountin’ to Somethin - Through the use of Patsy's experience as a child of Appalachia, the focus of the keynote centers on the personal qualities needed to find your place in a larger world. Patsy outlines the three steps of getting good dirt, conquering fears, and becoming real in order to extend yourself into a life that is larger than anything you've ever known before. Audiences hearing this keynote will:
become inspired to grow
challenge old beliefs about themselves
discover the importance of good support systems in their lives
improve their self-esteem
learn the value of maturity
acknowledge the gifts of their roots
look at how to tie one's past to the present
have more real connections to workers and family
"Hilarious and heartwarming. Patsy Lawson is a remarkable storyteller with a gift for connecting with her audience. She had us laughing, crying, and asking for more." Lisa Earle McLeod, Syndicated Columnist and author of Forget Perfect
