Nashville's Fifth Annual, "Women's Work Project"

Held at Looby Center in Nashville Tennessee.  Patsy was chosen by the Tennessee Women's Theater Project from a large pool of applicants.  This was really an honor since she was competing with many other actors, authors, playwrights, and musicians.

young at heart
No matter how old you are - 19, 91 or any age in between - Curves plays a vital role in helping you age with grace and gratitude.

A Place to Feel Loved
At Curves, senior members say they learn from their clubs' youth. "I especially connect with new parents," says Patsy Hatfield Lawson, 62, a retired psychology professor from Hendersonville, Tennessee. "I think it's because I don't have grandchildren yet." Patsy says she views life as a series of eight or 10 different stages: "At each stage, we have enormous opportunity to learn new skills, and we've got to keep having social contact with people in different age groups."

A professional storyteller, Patsy recently shared tales of her romantic relationships in a special event at her Curves club titled "Lessons Learned in Love."

Finding a Purpose
Patsy had three goals when she joined Curves: to control her weight, to boost her bone density (she'd been diagnosed with osteopenia), and to stay fit enough to travel the world throughout retirement. "During my life, I've paid close attention to elderly people on trips I've taken," says Patsy, who has traveled throughout Europe and South America. "I noticed that some were up to the task and others were not because they had not taken care of their bodies." At 61 Patsy was fit enough to climb Peru's Machu Picchu, a grueling trek at any age. She can outrun her husband and feels she has more stamina now than she did at 30.

"From my field of psychology," observes Patsy, "I know that my new life in retirement must always include new friends, new challenges, good health and the love for bringing together the past and the future. I'm counting on Curves to keep me healthy, strong, and alive for all the adventures that lie ahead of me."
